Therapy with Marisa
Hi, I'm Marisa!
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who believes that feeling heard, understood, and supported is an essential part of the therapeutic process.
I earned my Master of Social Work from New York University, where I graduated with a 3.9 GPA and was inducted into the Phi Alpha Honor Society. Prior to that, I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Fordham University, with a minor in Visual Arts.
Throughout my career, I've gained experience working in a variety of clinical settings, including outpatient mental health clinics, private practices, hospital-based programs, and schools. My professional background includes providing individual, family, and group therapy, as well as supporting individuals experiencing acute mental health challenges. I've worked with children, adolescents, and adults from diverse backgrounds, helping them navigate a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and interpersonal difficulties.
These experiences have shaped my approach to therapy and reinforced my belief that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to mental health care.
I know that starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially when you're not quite sure where to begin or how to put what you're experiencing into words. My goal is to create a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free space where you can feel comfortable showing up exactly as you are.
I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, self-esteem, perfectionism, and life transitions. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, struggling with boundaries, finding yourself stuck in familiar patterns, or simply wanting to understand yourself better, I'm here to help you work through it.
My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your individual needs. I incorporate evidence-based techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and person-centered, trauma-informed approaches. I believe therapy should be a balance of feeling supported while also being gently challenged to grow.
Above all, I want therapy to feel like a genuine conversation where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, gain new perspectives, and develop the tools to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence.
You don't have to have everything figured out to get started. Sometimes, simply having a space to talk is the first step toward meaningful change.
